Melissa Perry
Lessons from a Luxury Brokerage
For a long time, I’ve been learning how to structure content in a way that doesn’t eat up all your time. One of my favorite projects was working with Melissa Perry—a luxury car broker. Now, let me tell you, Melissa is busy. She’s not just running the company; she’s wearing all the hats—marketing, logistics, IT, finance, client acquisition. With all that going on, I had to figure out how to create content for her without adding to her already packed schedule.
The Key to Effective Content: Planning Ahead
Whether you’re selling luxury cars, running a fashion brand, or managing a restaurant, the secret to efficient content creation is planning. For Melissa, it was all about getting multiple cars lined up for one filming day. This didn’t just happen overnight. We needed at least two weeks to plan—selecting the cars, deciding on the locations, and coordinating everything so that when production day arrived, we were ready to go.
Why Two Weeks of Planning?
The goal is to minimize downtime. I suggest reaching out to your collaborators or inventory partners at least a week or two before production. Whether you're filming cars, food, or clothing, you want everything set up so that your content creator isn’t waiting around while you figure out logistics. With Melissa, we’d have all the cars chosen, locations scouted, and everything laid out. Once the filming day came, we didn’t lose a minute.
The Filming Day: Focused and Streamlined
On production day, the goal is efficiency. For Melissa, this meant moving vehicles quickly, finding the best lighting, and making sure each car looked flawless. Whether you’re working with cars, food, or fashion, the principle is the same: organize everything beforehand so your creator can focus on capturing the best content.
Systematizing the Content Process
Once the shoot is done, the work doesn’t stop. I use my Vid Project portal to upload all the photos and videos into specific sessions. From there, I load everything onto Dropbox and organize it by project for my team and project managers. This allows my editors to jump in and start working right away. It’s a streamlined process that keeps everything moving smoothly, from production to post-production.
Applying This System to Your Business
This isn’t just about cars. Whether you’re running a restaurant, a retail store, or any business with physical products, you can use the same approach. The idea is to create a content system that saves you time while ensuring high-quality output. If you’re constantly finding that content creation is taking over your schedule, this structure will help you regain control.
